Say it ain't so...Prescriptives going out of business :(

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who has a horrible time finding the right foundation and powder. I have oily skin on some parts and extremely dry skin on other parts of my face, ugh. I have searched high and low for the right make up that would control the shiny parts and stay on. I have tried Elizabeth Arden, Mac, Chanel, bla bla bla bla....Until one day a friend of mine mentioned Prescriptives to me. I had always loved her make up so I decided to give it a try. I was color matched at the counter and given the Virtual Matte foundation and powder to try. I have never found anything else that compares.

That's why I was in a panic when I found out that Prescriptives is going out of business :( Global wholesale distribution ended on January 31, 2010 and the website will be selling their inventory while it lasts.
Do any of you know of a great oil controlling foundation and/or powder? Suggestions please!

  1. Have you ever tried Almay? It works wonders for my skin, just the right amount of moisture to soak up my dry spots, but hypoallergenic so it doesn't create oily spots.

    I hope this helps (: !

  2. I was trying to add a comment from my cell phone earlier but it didn't work! OK so here we go.
I have been using bare minerals foundation for a while now. I have dry skin, but have been told that bare minerals is good for all skin types. It goes on easy and doesn't look caked on your face. I had that problem with other liquid foundation it looked to heavy on my face. You can go to either Macy's or Sephora and they will color match you and give you a sample if you want to try it out. I like it to because its affordable and last for months. Good luck and I hope you find something to replace your Prescriptives. I know how frustrating it can be to find the right makeup!

  3. Thanks FF! CVS is across the street so I think I will try it :) CC: You know, a lot of my friends use that and they all just love it. I forgot that I could go and get a free sample before buying it. Thanks!

  4. i actually don't use any foundation but a lot of my friends do use bare minerals & it seems to work :)
and as for the oily parts, i sometimes have oily skin & i just use odorless baby powder - when you just put a little bit, it doesn't make your face paler so it's still the color of your skin but just clears up the oiliness.

  5. Hi Audrey! Oh, how I would love to be able to go without foundation but unfortunately I also have very uneven, splotchy skin. I love how foundation evens it out to one tone :)
